Project BrazilMake a difference in the heart of BrazilRegistrations for 2009 are now closed. Details of Project Brazil 2010 will be coming soon...27 September 7 October 2009
Project Brazil will involve an eleven day trip, where participants will work to renovate a dilapidated school and a football pitch in partnership with the local population. The project will take place in one of the poorest and most remote villages in the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park. It is also an area of outstanding natural beauty, spilling over with massive waterfalls, and capped by the awesome sunrises and sunsets. The area was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. Project Brazil will make for an unforgettable experience. Watch our videoKindly filmed by our 2008 Production Partner Bradley TV. Aim of the projectProject Brazil will give the local children and their parents the chance to continue their education in their own village, close to their families, rather than being obliged to move away, and will leave a real legacy for the community in Bobby's name. Our work helps to sustain the local school and give strength to a community that are guardians of this precious natural wilderness. The team will spend several days working on the project and, on the final day, there will be a 'handover ceremony' to the Brazilian community. The next day the team will be transferred to a local town for a football match against an official Brazilian team, where a trophy and medals will be awarded to the winning team followed by a celebration dinner. Your fundraising will go to the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK to help tackle bowel cancer. Stephanie Moore MBE, Bobby Moore's widow and founder of the Bobby Moore Fund, said: "I have taken part in several Projects and found them to be the most rewarding experiences of my life. The help that is being given in these remote areas is vital for the local people to be able to remain in their village, and the money raised through the participants' fantastic fundraising efforts is hugely important to the work of the Bobby Moore Fund. To know that you are making a real difference to both causes is something very special." Please visit the itinerary and the facts pages for more information about the Project.
