The Bobby Moore Fund Laboratory

TV presenter Matthew Wright, Bobby's 1966 teammate George Cohen MBE and Bobby's widow Stephanie at the opening of the new Bobby Moore Fund laboratory at St Mark's Hospital A new £425,000 facility, paid for entirely by the Bobby Moore Fund, was opened in late 2005 by Bobby's wife Stephanie Moore MBE.

She was joined by former England goalkeeper David Seaman MBE, Bobby's 1966 teammate George Cohen MBE, TV presenter Matthew Wright, and Professor John Northover, Director of the Cancer Research UK Colorectal Cancer Unit at St. Mark's Hospital.

The Bobby Moore Fund Laboratory forms part of the Cancer Research UK Unit. The researchers in the laboratory will be working to identify all the genes that affect bowel cancer risk, and to determine the specific effects of each of these.

Their results will help identify new treatments for bowel cancer, improve the understanding of bowel cancer risk and develop ways of tailoring treatment to an individual patient's needs.

Bobby Moore Fellowships

In order to ensure we fund the very best bowel cancer research, Bobby Moore Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis. This allows us to select the cream of up-and-coming researchers in the UK.
