Who supports us

Ally McCoist, one of the Bobby Moore Fund's celebrity supporters The Bobby Moore Fund is extremely grateful to all the celebrities who so kindly support Cancer Research UK's vital bowel cancer research.

Celebrity support is crucial to help us raise awareness of the Bobby Moore Fund and bowel cancer.

Sir Bobby Robson (1933-2009)

"We are all very sad to hear that Sir Bobby Robson has passed away. Sir Bobby was a dear friend to both Bobby and me. Sir Bobby has always been a loyal supporter of the Bobby Moore Fund and through his Foundation has raised funds for dedicated research facilities at The Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne, which will enable Cancer Research UK to undertake clinical trials of new treatments.

"Bobby was not only a great footballer and one of the country's most admired managers but a wonderful man who future footballers and managers hope to emulate. Our thoughts are with Lady Robson and all the family."

Our patrons

David Seaman MBE has supported the Bobby Moore Fund for many years. In 2008 he nominated us for the second time as the chosen charity for the Safe Hands Charity Golf Classic which raised over £140,000. David is also the patron of Run for Moore and has taken part in the run several times.

Special thanks to Gareth Gates who has recently become a celebrity patron for the Bobby Moore Fund. Gareth also raised £10,000 for the charity by taking part in the TV Show, 'Don't Forget the Lyrics'.

Celebrity partnerships

The Bobby Moore Fund is delighted to be named as the Team England Footballers' Charity partner this year. Their goal is to raise a minimum of £1m for charitable causes ahead of the 2010 World Cup.

Each player will forego their England match fees and dedicate time to support chosen charity partners including the Bobby Moore Fund.

Taking part in our events

Ex-professional footballers, Rob Lee and John Beresford joined us for Project South Africa in 2008 and helped to raise a fantastic total £66,000 on the project which will go towards bowel cancer research in the UK.

We would also like to thank Steve Cram MBE, Kirsty Gallacher, Hazel Irvine, Claire Tomlinson, Allison Curbishley and Clive Tyldesley for hosting the Sports Quiz in London last year on its 10th Anniversary. The Quiz raised £206,000 for the Bobby Moore Fund, which is a great achievement.

We would also like to thank the many other celebrities that have attended our events and supported us in the past.
