Join one of CRUK's nursing teams
Cancer Awareness Activity
Our Cancer Awareness activity takes place across the whole of the UK
At CRUK we have lots of exciting opportunities to work as a nurse. Whether on our helpline talking to people affected by cancer or travelling to the heart of our communities, these roles play a direct part in helping people beat cancer sooner. Read on and find out more about the different areas you could join!
What is it like to be a Specialist Information Nurse on our helpline?
"This post has given me a unique opportunity to use my cancer nursing skills and knowledge in a completely different way. As it is a confidential anonymous service people ask me things they would never have asked me in a face to face hospital setting and I can give them all the time they need. There are great opportunities to develop too and my cancer knowledge and communication skills are so much stronger now” - Jean Slocombe, Specialist Information Nurse
What is it like to be a cancer awareness nurse at CRUK?
“My work on the Roadshow and our Hub has provided some great opportunities to develop professionally and make a real difference in the areas of prevention and early diagnosis. Every day is different and challenging, helping our visitors to be more aware and to take small steps in improving their lifestyle. I have had the privilege of meeting some amazing people through my work. Knowing you have been able to listen and give someone your time and help is very rewarding, especially as we’re working with some of the most vulnerable groups in society. Cancer Research UK is a great organisation to work for and I’m very happy and proud to be a part of it." - Lesley Green, Senior Cancer Awareness Nurse
