Philip Schofield voted Britain's favourite breakfast smoothie

Cancer Research UK

Silver-tongued, silver-haired Philip Schofield has won the battle of the presenters to be crowned Britain’s favourite breakfast smoothie by UK women. Philip topped the poll which was commissioned by Cancer Research UK in support of Britain’s Biggest Breakfast, a fundraising campaign taking place throughout March to raise awareness of the links between diet and cancer and to raise vital funds for research into the disease.

In the survey of 1,000 women, nearly a quarter (24 per cent) put Philip in first place as the most charming and charismatic of all the male breakfast presenters, with thousands of women watching him every day on This Morning. Irish charmer Terry Wogan took second place, winning 15 per cent of the votes for his smooth tones on Radio 2’s breakfast show. Third position went to Ben Shepherd for his role on GMTV, and Radio 1’s outspoken "saviour of morning radio" Chris Moyles came in fourth.

Heart FM’s Jamie Theakston was the favourite London radio station breakfast presenter - beating Capital FM’s Johnny Vaughan, who received only two per cent of the vote and came in last.

Each year, Britain’s Biggest Breakfast aims to raise awareness of how eating a healthy breakfast as part of a balanced diet, including plenty of fruit and vegetables, can help reduce your risk of cancer. Experts believe that about a quarter of all cancer deaths are caused by unhealthy diets and obesity. The campaign aims to raise £200,000 for research into cancer by asking people to hold fundraising breakfast parties.

You can hold a Britain’s Biggest Breakfast party at anytime throughout March. For further information on Britain’s Biggest Breakfast or to order a fundraising pack, click here or call 08701 60 20 40.
