Zollinger Ellison syndrome

Zollinger Ellison syndrome is a group of symptoms that occur when small tumours in the pancreas or small bowel make too much of the hormone gastrin. High levels of gastrin make the stomach produce too much stomach acid. The symptoms include abdominal pain, diarrhoea, and sometimes vomiting blood. People with Zollinger Ellison syndrome have ulcers in the stomach and small intestine. The treatment is medicines that reduce the production of stomach acid.
