Cancer Research UK is the largest cancer research organisation in the world, outside the USA. We are the European leader in the development of new anti-cancer drugs. We fund research on all aspects of the disease from its causes, to treatment and prevention.

We are also committed to producing high quality information for people affected by cancer, health professionals and the general public. We do this through our website, which includes patient information and news and resources, and through our range of health awareness leaflets.

Kidney Cancer UK offers help and support for patients and their carers. The organisation was founded by 2 kidney cancer patients in January 2000. It aims to provide UK kidney cancer patients and their carers with improved access to reliable information about kidney cancer and its treatment, and to establish a network of individuals and groups capable of offering mutual support. You can email them through their website, order copies of their booklets and subscribe to their newsletter. KC-UK have 3 local support groups, meeting in South East London, North East England (Sunderland) and the Borders.

The Kidney Cancer Support Network was created to help kidney cancer patients, families and friends join together and offer information, advice and friendship to each other. The website has a patient forum so that you can ‘talk’ online to other people affected by kidney cancer. The site also has a support network to put people in touch with each other across the UK.

The Myrovlytis Trust is a medical research charity that promotes research into rare genetic disorders. It is focusing on Birt Hogg Dube Syndrome (BHD), a condition which increases the risk of kidney cancer. The charity runs a website,, which provides detailed information for people with BHD syndrome, their families and research scientists interested in BHD. The website also offers support for BHD patients and encourages communication through an online forum.
