Primary liver cancer is cancer that started in the liver. If you have cancer that has spread to the liver from somewhere else, this is not the right section for you.

Seeing your GP

Referral to a specialist

Your GP should arrange for you to see a specialist within 2 weeks if you have symptoms that could be due to liver cancer. This is called an urgent referral. 

Screening

There is no national screening programme for primary liver cancer in the UK. You may have regular checks if you are at high risk of developing it.
